Springfield's official Municipal Jail page places the jail at the Springfield Justice Center and describes it as a 98-bed municipal jail. The city says it began accepting adults in custody on January 29, 2010, and describes the facility as the largest municipal jail in Oregon. Springfield reports 19 certified and civilian staff members, plus contracted medical and mental-health professionals, for services to adults in custody.
The facility should not be confused with Lane County Jail / Lane County Adult Corrections. Lane County says the county jail is the facility that can hold felony-level defendants. Springfield Municipal Jail serves city custody and municipal jail needs. A person arrested in Springfield may be in the city jail, in Lane County Jail, released pending court, or moved to another system depending on the case level, hold, court order, or sentence.

Springfield public safety levy material reviewed in the Lane County research reported an average municipal-jail population of 41 inmates per day over the last five years. Those facts apply to Springfield's city jail and should not be mixed with Lane County Jail's 411-bed Adult Corrections capacity.

Springfield Jail Money
Springfield's trust account and commissary page gives more local detail than many city jails. Internet and telephone deposit options charge a fee. Funds accepted over the counter at the jail lobby or sent through U.S. Mail have no fee. The city says deposits made during the booking process also are not charged a fee. Mailed funds must be addressed to Springfield Municipal Jail at 344 A Street, Springfield, OR 97477, and should identify the inmate by name.

Springfield Jail Bail
The city publishes a clear bail route. Springfield states that bail may be posted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., bail can be posted at Springfield Municipal Court on the second floor of the Springfield Justice Center. After hours, bail can be posted at the Police Department Records Division on the first floor.
